Exposure to heavy metals can occur with amalgam (mercury) fillings, working in certain industries, living or working close to mines and even exposure to certain pesticides or chemicals in farming. In conjunction with a scientific laboratory in Sydney, we conduct hair sampling to test the body for toxic metals such as lead, cadmium and mercury. We also analyse for mineral imbalances within the same test checking magnesium, zinc and over 30 other parameters. Heavy metals store themselves in fat tissue, such as under the scalp, therefore analysing hair is one of the best ways to check for stored toxins. The clinical naturopath will then prescribe a chelation medicine or organise intravenous chelation to detoxify the unwanted substances from the patient.
